Cocodigi members were acknowledged with two Top Paper Awards at the International Communication Association conference in Toronto, Canada in May 25-29, 2023.
Professor Anu Sivunen and doctoral researcher Jonna Leppäkumpu, together with professor Jennifer L. Gibbs, received the Top Paper Award in the Organizational Communication Division for their paper “Managing collapsed boundaries in global work.” The paper is part of the GloBound research project and it examines how workers in a global organization manage their work-life boundaries as they are forced to work across temporal, geographical, and cultural boundaries. The article is published in Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication and is available open access here.
Additionally, doctoral researcher Minna Koivula, together with university instructor Tiina Saari (University of Tampere) and professor Mikko Villi (University of Jyväskylä) received a Top Faculty Paper Award in the Journalism Studies division for their paper “I love learning new things”: An institutional logics perspective on learning in professional journalism.” Their work examines the institutional conditions of everyday learning in the journalistic profession through interviews with thirty Finnish media professionals. The article is part of the recently ended Media Work 2030 project that examined the effects of digitalization on the well-being of media workers.
